Voices for the slientNot since the 70's version of "For Colored Girls who have consider Suicide when the Rainbows Is Enuf" have there been a such a prolific stage production that enters the hearts and minds of its audience. This powerful prose poetry piece delicately entitled The Meltdown does just that. It flips and dips into the souls of captivating onlookers and delivers messages of hope, despair, and anxiety as well as answer anyone who has ever needed to express themselves with words. Wanda McKiver, the Writer, Director and Executive Producer, cradled audiences in 2009 when she sold out four performances in Midtown Manhattan's Where Eagle's Dare theatre. She is now turning up the heat this March, in the middle of Times Square, at the Roy Arias theatre where she plans a three weekend run which is quickly turning into an encore event before the run has started. Ms. McKiver is known for her straight to the point, hard hitting nature form of writing and delivering messages that unfortunately ring true to the masses. Wanda McKiver is an Author, Playwright, Director and Stage Producer. A woman with a mission to encourage through entertainment and to inspire through teaching oneself how to be motivated Ms. McKiver makes careful note, not to be the it that does it for people. She has taken the literary industry by storm with a novel entitled The Black Rose Diaries, in 2005, a book derived from a dream, challenging the myth, that African American women do not commit suicide. Once readers got their hands on this page turner, some realized they unfortunately had too much in common with whom Ms. McKivers describes as mirror images of herself they soon found out that these mirrored images werent fictional characters at all, however women either Ms. McKiver knew personally, or are silenced voices stuck in a loud world. It didnt take this creative and often labeled, dark writer long to publish a second novel that would again remind reading enthusiast that reality is not always a fairy tale entitled Beautiful a tale of two sisters struggling through early adolescences in a neglectful household, full of hands that love to touch places that are forbidden by strangers and family members alike.In 2007while completing her second novel, Wanda McKiver took time to produce her first community stage drama entitled, The Grandmas, a timeless musical which tells the story of five generations of women living under the same roof. She again, challenged her audience to believe in dreams, allowing her cast to describe true hope, deep family ties, and unfortunate stereotypes.Before releasing her third literary piece, The Meltdown, in 2008, a powerful prose project that reminds you that emotions are real and thrive in each of us, especially when you are falling in and out of love. She produced it on stage, this time in a New York City theatre, selling out four of five performances. When asked, what is her motivation? She smiles a small smile and answers quietly, People, people inspire me to write, people inspire me to produce, people motivate me to move, just people. Wanda McKiver is now producing and touring eight stage productions beginning March of 2011. She is re-releasing two of her novels, and has published The Meltdown in print version. She has also published The Black Rose Diaries, Beautiful and The Meltdown, in audio versions for those ready to hear her smooth, and sultry voice, which some describes as a soft lullaby. Along with her team of 16 talented artists, ranging from a music composer to a complete video production team, as well as two entertainment attorneys, she will bring into being 8 DVDs for each stage production and will demonstrate her compelling story telling skills with a 4 State- 6 Cities tour. Ms. McKiver has proven that there is still power in people.
